AI in Banking: From Opportunity to Responsible Transformation
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing banking, but successful adoption requires more than introducing new technology.
This was one of the central themes at the World Banking Forum in Prague, attended by ApPello’s David Kopecky. The conference explored both the transformative potential of AI and the practical foundations banks need before implementing it at scale.
Discussions addressed the opportunities AI can create across banking operations, as well as the associated risks, organisational requirements and implementation challenges. Case studies from financial institutions provided valuable insight into how banks are approaching the transition and where the most significant obstacles remain.
A key takeaway was that digital transformation must precede or accompany AI adoption. Fragmented processes and disconnected systems cannot be solved by simply adding an AI layer. Institutions need strong digital foundations, clear governance and defined human oversight to turn AI capabilities into sustainable business value.
The event also created space for smaller discussions and direct exchanges between banking and technology professionals, enabling participants to compare practical experiences and explore different approaches.
